This help file will guide you through the basic setup of the your First Class Software which you will be using to connect with the LAMG BBS
Don't be alarmed...It's really quite easy
• First Class Software comes in 2 parts.
The "Client" portion is the actual program. But in order to connect with the LAMG BBS you also need a "Settings" file. Your settings file contains all the information, the phone number, User ID, password, custom icons, etc. needed to connect with the LAMG BBS. When you've setup the program correctly, you'll be able to log on to the LAMG BBS with a single click of the mouse...
But first you need to configure the settings file with your User ID, Password, calling location, and modem.
• Start by double-clicking on the LAMG BBS Setting File
First Class software utilizes a Two-tiered USER ID/Password access. To safeguard yourself and to keep from forgetting the ID & Password combo you've used, it's suggested that you enter your choices in this dialog box where they will be "Remembered" when you choose Save.
• You may use any word you want for your USER ID, but to insure
faster access on the BBS use your LAMG ID number here.
Your PASSWORD can be any word you choose.
Once on-line, you can change your Password whenever you want.
• When you've entered your USER ID & PASSWORD, choose SAVE
• MODEM Settings
• Clicking on the CHANGE Button, you'll move into the modem setup area.
• If you're calling the LAMG BBS from the 310 Area code, you won't need to make any changes to the Phone Number setting. If you're calling from the 213, 818, or other area code, be sure to enter the 310 area code into your dialing setup.
• Clicking on the Modem setup box you will see a list of many commonly used modems. If your modem is in that list choose it. For most users, the Basic Hayes Compatible setting will work just fine.
• Click on OK when you've configured the settings for your modem and calling area...And then Choose the SAVE Button to keep the Settings, User ID & Password you have chosen.
That's all there is to it...When you want to connect with the BBS, just Open the settings file and click on the "Login" Button.
The first time you connect with the LAMG BBS you'll be asked to register with the system itself.
Please be as complete with the information you supply. It will be kept in the strictest confidence, but it is needed to verify your membership as well as helping to resolve any on-line problems you may encounter.
